This logistic report analyzes Schlumberger Ltd. performance as one of the leading oilfield services provider. This report also outlines Schlumberger main activities, financial status, operations and processes. It will also describe why this is an important company for a logistic class. SUMMARY
The supply chain in oil and gas consists of operators (oil companies), main contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. In this order, while governments and companies investigate alternative sources, Oil and Gas companies are focused in finding new ways to develop and deploy technology to improve exploitation of existing fields and new potential prospective areas. With that prospective, IBM Oil and gas 2030 report (IBM, 2010) considered the application of new technology progress through oil service providers as a friendly solution to meet this needs especially when major oil operations have become increasingly risk-averse, less economical, and technically more challenging.
Schlumberger, with headquarters in New York and the Antilles has become the main oil field service provider. The company has also become the strongest technical innovator in drilling, computing- based calculations and 3D views of the subsurface oil processes. (Market Intelligences 2010) Schlumberger also delivers engineered solutions from reservoir to surface, with a focus on increased hydrocarbon recovery. (Schlumberger, 2011) Operations
Schlumberger is highly diversified. Actually this company operates in 80 countries managing its business through 33 GeoMarket regions, which are grouped into four geographic areas: North America, Latin America, Europe, CIS & Africa and Middle East & Asia. Canada’s Schlumberger head office is located in Calgary, Alberta and locally its oil operations are spreading in 30 locations across Canada. (Schlumberger, 2011)....
